Passanten
Diese Fotoarbeit entstand im Sommer 2007 im Rahmen eines Stipendiums der Stadt Koblenz. Meine Aufgabe war es einekünstlerisches Stadtportrait in dieser Stadt zu schaffen.
Der Charakter einer Stadt wird von verschiedenen Faktoren bestimmt: Von ihrer Geographie und Architektur, v.a. aber von den Menschen, die in ihr leben. Ziel der Arbeit ist es deshalb, anhand der Menschen meinen Eindruck der Stadt wiederzugeben, indem ich diese in den Mittelpunkt stelle. Um Koblenz und den Menschen näher zu kommen habe ich mich für eine offensive Taktik entschieden: Für die Arbeit habe ich Menschen auf der Straße direkt angesprochen – Menschen, die mir aufgefallen sind, etwa aufgrund ihrer Kleidung, Ausstrahlung, Haltung etc.
Ich inszeniere die Menschen losgelöst vom Boden, hängend an Wänden, Bäumen oder Laternen. Wie Fundstücke, die man deutlich sichtbar an dem Ort platziert, an dem man sie vorfindet (bspw. ein am Zaun hängender Handschuh). Die Motive geben dabei wie beiläufig das Spezifische an Koblenz wieder. Indem ich typische Orte spielerisch in die Bildkomposition einbinde, die Passanten auf dieser „ Bühne “ in Szene setze, kann ich dokumentarische und stadtgeschichtliche Aspekte scheinbar nebenbei mit einbeziehen. Auf diese Weise entstehen neue Perspektiven auf wohlbekannte Orte wie das Deutsche Eck oder den historischen Stadtkern mit seinen hübschen pittoresken Gassen, aber auch auf einige der sogenannten „Koblenzer Schandflecken“, die ein ebenso typischer Teil der Stadt sind.
Passers – Bye
This photo work is the result of a scholarship that I gained in summer 2007.My task was to create an artistic portrait of
the city Koblenz in Germany.
The character of a city is determined by different factors:
Of its geography and architecture and, above all, of the
people, who live in it. My intention of the work is to give an impression of the city by focusing the individual persons
themselves. To get closer to Koblenz and its people, I decided for an offensive tactic: For the work I addressed people in the streets directly, – persons who had attracted my attention due to their clothes, vibrancy, posture etc.
I portrait them detached from the ground, hanging on walls, trees or lanterns. As pieces of find that you place clearly visible on the spot where you had found them, i.e. a glove hanging on a fence. These motives represent thereby the specific of Koblenz – in a very casual way.
By playfully integrating typical places into the picture composition, taking in scene the passers-bye on these „stage“,
i apperently can incorporate documentary and city-historical aspects besides.
In this manner i create new perspectives on well-known sights like the „German corner“ or the historical city centre with his pretty picturesque lanes, but i also show some of the socalled „ Koblenzer eyesores „ which are also a typical part of the city.
